I met with a client yesterday that was struggling with a typical ECM issue in regards to how to provide for searches against multiple ECM environments.  While ECM vendors love to pitch the “one repository to rule them all”, most ECM users have content in a variety of different solutions that have evolved over time.  This post will provide thoughts on how to publish to a common search/retrieval repository and benefits over a crawling or federated approach.

Documentum Cross-Repository Searching – an integrated open source approach

We just completed a very interesting integration for one of our clients to enable searching across multiple Documentum repositories.  The client was struggling with the Federated Search from Documentum and was looking for a better solution to access two separate Documentum instances with a cleaner search.  This post will detail our approach and some of the benefits of leveraging an integrated open source solution over a packaged solution from Documentum.

NY Philharmonic Digital Archives – 2012 Alfresco Implementation of the Year

TSG’s work with the New York Philharmonic Digital Archives was recently named 2012 Alfresco Implementation of the Year.  We wanted to thank the team at the NY Philharmonic for giving TSG the opportunity to work with them and providing the vision of what the Digital Archives is today.  The digital archives provides a perfect example of how open source technologies can be leveraged to create a robust and scalable enterprise solution.  Using OpenMigrate for high volume content ingestion, OpenAnnotate for face tagging, Solr for faceted search, with Alfresco as the central repository make up the key architectural components driving its success.  We look forward to continue working with the New York Philharmonic as they innovate and expand the digital archives.

Documentum Performance – Search, Retrieval and Inbox

I was talking to a client last week that was struggling with their Documentum system performance.  This client had recently brought in Documentum Consulting, and having been unsuccessful in improving performance, was concerned that there might be nothing left to do.  This post will focus on innovative things TSG has done for clients in regards to Documentum performance that are probably outside of the norm of typical database/server tuning particularly focused on Search, Document Retrieval and Inbox viewing.

New York Philharmonic Digital Archives – New Content Release on March 22nd

The New York Philharmonic will be hosting a Google Hangout tomorrow to discuss the new release of Digital Archives material from 1943-1970 (International Era). Scholars from around the world will be participating to discuss the content, and the historic tours from that time period under Leonard Bernstein.
